Oct 1 Care Mission
Spot an Online Scam
Help protect yourself and your senior loved ones from getting scammed online. Learn the facts and quiz yourself to see how much you know.
The Facts: More than 3 out of 5 American and Canadian seniors surveyed by Home Instead, Inc. in 2016 reported having been the target or victim of an online scam. The survey results also show that older U.S. adults could be leaving themselves open to cyber attacks:
- 68% of surveyed seniors use a single password or re-use passwords on multiple sites;
- 1 in 5 surveyed seniors is going without anti-virus software; and
- more than a third (38%) of surveyed seniors say someone has tried to scam them.
Take this quiz to see if you have safe online habits and if you can spot a potential scam. Be sure to share this information with your senior family and friends to help them stay safe too.
