Jul 23 Care Mission
Send a Postcard
Whether you're taking a staycation or vacation this summer, drop a postcard in the mail to a senior loved one to show you care.
The Facts: According to the National Institutes of Aging (NIA), 19% of older adults in the United States suffer from loneliness. Sending a postcard is an easy way to say hello and let someone know that you are thinking about them. Stamp out loneliness, and embrace snail mail with these new ways to approach sending postcards:
- If you’re traveling, take pre-addressed mailing labels and postcard stamps with you to make it easier to drop a note in the mail.
- For a digital approach, there are services that will let you upload your message and send customized real postcards to loved ones weekly, monthly, or quarterly.
- Get the kids involved! They get to practice writing while a senior gets a “hug” through the mail.
