I’m Ready to Log It!

We all know the saying “If you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all.” In this week’s care mission, we want you to speak up to a senior! Kindness is infectious, so tell your favorite senior

  1. Why they mean the most to you
  2. Why they make you smile
  3. What you love about them
  4. Or, all of the above!

If you want a bit more of a challenge, give a compliment to one senior you know and one you don’t to spread a little extra love.

  1. I talked to my dad yesterday about when I’d visit next. It’s raining today so, probably Wednesday. But had a good giggle over “when was I going to shine him with my gorgeous face”? Since he’s never spoken to me like that. Ha ha
Just my mom who he loved dearly. He may have confused me as he calls me Sara at times on the phone.

  5. Okay, I have some “Happy notes” stickers, I used one for my (senior) husband and told him I appreciate the things he does. In every day life, we forget these niceties, he does (!), so perhaps this will make him happier today! I’m also sending a thank you card and happy note to my sister, also a senior, who periodically sends me silly packages! I told her she makes me smile when I suddenly recieve one!
    I feel happier already!

  7. I went out to lunch with some nurse friends. Three of us are seniors, one working her way to old ness.
We lakes about our families and friends and laughed ourselves silly at Bob Evans. We always go between mealtimes so we don’t inconvenience the waitstaff.
I called my 85 yr old aunt and caught up on family news. She has a first great grandchild and she was happy to fill me in on baby smiles.
I would have done these things anyway, just as I deliver for Meals on Wheels twice a week. I just wanted you to know that many of us are already making a difference in the life of a senior.

  10. That’s probably because elderly patients are so appreciative. … The better the relationships, the better the patient outcomes. And the emotional attachment that healthcare workers have with their elderly patients is often considered the greatest reward of their jobs and the reason they stay.N

  15. I always try to say some complimentary comment to older shoppers or those in wheelchairs shopping with a helper. It always makes them smile and sometimes starts up a conversation. I am 80 and in great shape but I know all are not. I am blessed to have good health!

I use to teach bible study for grade school and would tell them that you don’t know someone until you walk in their shoes 👠 and I would take my shoes off and have some of the girls walk in my shoes ( that was funny to them

  19. So happy to see so many responses to this care mission! I spoke on the phone to my senior friend this weekend who was having some stomach issues, just cause she needed a friend! Today spoke to a gentleman on the hospital elevator to see how his day was going and wished him a pleasant rest of his day! Sitting here with my senior husband while he gets his weekly blood transfusion and encouraging him to be patient and know they are doing all they can as he goes through this cancer adventure! 💗

If there is anything I can do for her to let me know, needless to say she needed a gallon of milk 🙂 I was happy to oblige and enjoyed our conversation!

  34. Called my dad, just to say hello. His lady friend said he was in a grumpy mood, but I asked to speak with him anyway. Although he had been agitated, he was very pleasant during our brief conversation. We talked about his granddaughter and great-granddaughters, said we missed each other. He has good days, and bad days; I like to think I was a bright diversion in an otherwise gloomy day. HildaH

  43. Shared Father’s Day with Dad & Mom who just moved back within 15 minutes of my sister & I from Out of state. Hard move as he he is still in boxes after 89 years of collecting stuff he can’t part with. We brought him dinner, grandkids & conversation. He was happiest since he moved in last month. Mom has Alzheimer’s and knows our names but not the relationship. She was happy with the activity. I have started to notice elder people in grocery stores and struck up some sweet conversations.
