Find a Place to Volunteer
Summer is a great season to give back to a senior. Find a local organization where you can volunteer, share your talents, and make a difference.
The Facts: As a society, we are facing a shortage of people to care for seniors in our community. This is where you can make a difference. Flexible schedules make summer an ideal time to volunteer to help older adults. Students can uncover new skill sets while connecting with others, while those working could take advantage of lighter workloads or flextime to squeeze in some volunteering.
Not sure where to start? Look to local senior centers, organizations like Meals on Wheels, or food banks, all places that serve seniors. The non-profit GIVE65 has a searchable database to help you find volunteer opportunities to help seniors in your community. Find your fit, and you’ll be on your way to logging some volunteer hours.
